Fantasy Farce

Series of sculptural garments composed of latex mermaid tails, conceived as extensions of the body and as devices for fabulation. Suspended between clothing, prosthesis, and skin, the works approach the mermaid not only as a mythical character, but as an image historically pushed into the realm of exaggeration, artifice, and performance.

The title of the series emerges from the friction between two modes of interpretation: on one hand, fantasy as a force of enchantment, projection, and bodily reinvention; on the other, farce as the space to which the imaginary is often relegated when it departs from utility, sobriety, and normativity. In wearing a tail, the body momentarily abandons the expectation of coherence with the real and begins to inhabit an ambiguous territory in which desire, play, ridicule, beauty, and estrangement coexist.
