Vesicas

The pieces are deconstructions of amphorae, a type of ancient vessel widely used in classical Greek and Roman cultures. They reference a sacred geometry known as the Vesica Piscis—a shape formed by the intersection of two circles with the same radius, where the center of each circle lies on the circumference of the other. The symbol, often mistakenly associated with Christianity, actually descends from Babylonian deities with strong symbolic ties to the image of the fish, fertility, and the mythical figure of the mermaid. The pieces evoke an archaeological artifact, with an aesthetic of ruin, as if they had been retrieved from the submerged remains of an ancient civilization.
